- Title
- The Illinois Siren Song
- Description
- This song, composed in 1907, celebrates the enthusiasm of University of Illinois fans and students. Guild was inspired by his time as a student at Brown to encourage some of the rigor and spirit found at Brown in Illini sporting events. Until this point, "bleacher singing" was almost completely absent from sports at the University of Illinois. With this rousing piece and the pieces "The Illinois Loyalty Song" and "Illinois Celebration Song", Guild successfully animated the participation of fans at Illini games.
